Free Discussion Lady Lazarus

What are your thoughts on Sylvia Plath's poem "Lady Lazarus"? Post your thoughts, or post a question. Post anything. This is an informal discussion on the story; the only requirement is that you must respond to the person who posts before you. I'd like to see a little more dialogue on the board. I'll chime in too.

  1. I found it intereesting to see the name if the story itself. I read 'Lady Lazarus' and it made me wonder of it had any religious connection to it.

  2. I think there was a religious connection to it. I also think that there was a very personal connection, because the author describes her own brush with death and also her trying to commit suicide at one point in her own life.

  3. I disagree, I think the author was articulating her fantasy about death. I believe she choose the tittle she did because Lazarus is infamous for coming back to life.

  4. I disagree with Kevin, I think the author was fantasizing about death and at the same time even wanting death. It is very much possible that this poem could be her death note.

  5. I agree with Zainab. Throughout the poem, there are lines that hints to it being her death note. It's more than just articulating her fantasy about death, because you get nothing out of it.
