In this class, we will explore individual morality, societal codes, and the relationship between them both as we read prose, plays, and poems that challenge and complicate the binary distinction between right and wrong.
I disliked the ending of this movie. It left me dissappointed. I think it would have been better if it had a moral ending or at least a clear ending rather than just leaving things up in the air the way they did. It made the rest of the movie seem rather pointless. I think this movie would have been better if we got some background history on Anton that explained why he was the way he was.
ReplyDeleteAt first i just plain out hated the end of the movie, but after watching it a few more times it it became more like the right way to end it. the movie like many of the stories we read left us with many unanswered questions which made it great. i think the movie had to end that way because it started in the same way and the movie felt like it hadn't started at the point it did so, it just seem right for it to end like that. i enjoied the way it ended because just like life sometimes there is no lesson or point to be made in the things that we do.
ReplyDeleteThough I personally did not like the ending of the movie, I feel for the direction the director wanted to take the movie, it was the best way to end the movie. It enforced the concept of freedom of insanity. The idea that there are sociopathic events or people in life that are never taken into consideration.
ReplyDeleteI think that the ending of No Country for Old men is perfect. I like the ending, because this movie is one of the few that real represents the reality. At the end, the evil person wins everything, and the good one dies. This is what really happen in reality, because goodness doesn't win at all the times.

ReplyDelete"No country For Old Men" ended very differently from other movies. It was also a very unlikely ending because any viewer would expect the character at the ending to get a taste of karma. i liked the movie because it was very different from any other movie.
In most movies, you would expect the villains to be punished for their actions. However, in this movie, it clearly does not show this. The ending hints to us about the future, that there will never be an end to good versus evil. This is true because if the evil were to be erased from the face of society, then the natural balance will be disturbed. Without evil, good can not exist and vice versa. Similarly, we can ask ourselves, did criminals come about first or did police?
ReplyDeleteThe movie as a whole was very capturing but the ending is disappointing to say the least. It’s unclear, ambiguous, and vague. Some clarity or explanation would have summed the movie better. Then again the movie itself is a deviation of the typical movie so this, most likely was an attempt at such a deviant ending.

i didn't realy like the ending. the hole movie was perfect but the last 10 minutes were to simple. Llewelyn get killed by he Mexicans and Anton get hit by car. come on, thats not an ending. for me a better ending could be a final battle between this 2, between good and evil. I didn't expect good/Liewelyn to stay alive and live happily ever after because in real life good doesn't always win.
ReplyDeleteIt was confusing. Definetely not what I expected. I felt like he got so far, for nothing. The director of this movie went from a GREAT storyline to a disappointing ending.
